The Hindu Temple Educational Scholarship Program
The purpose of the Hindu Temple Educational Scholarship is to strengthen the growth of the diverse Plymouth-Canton community by giving scholarship to deserving graduating senior students from Plymouth-Canton High Schools.
General Rules:
A total of six scholarships will be awarded to graduating seniors from three high schools of the Plymouth-Canton community School District.
One-time scholarship will be awarded in the amount of $1000 per student. The scholarship can be used in any accredited college/community college of Higher learning in U.S.A.
The scholarship money will be directly sent to the university/community college of student’s choice after that student has been accepted by the university. The scholarship money must be used for tutions and books only.
Eligibility:

A complete application

Must be a current senior at Canton-Plymouth High Schools who plans to enroll full-time in an accredited two-year or four-year college or university in the United States by fall of 2007.

GPA of 3.00 or better (attach transcript with application)

Two letters of recommendation. One from teacher, coach or counselor and a second from someone outside of school that is not a family member.

Applicant must submit a short essay (not to exceed 1000 words, typed with a 12 pt. font).
Year 2007 Topic Describe the most challenging obstacle you have overcome; discuss its impact & tell what you have learned from that.
Selection Process of Recipient:

Application can be picked up at the counseling offices of the Plymouth-Canton High Schools or click here to download.

Completed application form is to be mailed by Thursday, April 5, 2007 to the following address: The Hindu Temple, 44955 Cherry Hill Road, , Canton, MI 48188.

The selection Committee will review all material. The Committee will interview applicants (if necessary) prior to selecting winners and awarding scholarships.

The scholarship will be awarded based on the following criteria but not limited to:
Timeline: Application due by April 5, 2007. If necessary the applicants will be interviewed between April 16 and April 22, 2007. Scholarship winners will be notified by April 30, 2007. |
